Muckrach Lodge Hotel Muckrach Lodge Hotel Muckrach Lodge Hotel

  Hotel Information

The inaugural winner of the prestigious 2004 Hotel Review Scotland ‘Scottish Hospitality’ award, and it’s easy to see why....

Muckrach Lodge was built in 1860, the heyday of the Victorian sporting lodge. It has been delightfully transformed into a small hotel, offering warmly welcoming, with wood fires, comfortable chairs, fresh flowers, an atmosphere of informality and a restaurant with a growing reputation as one of the finest in the Highlands of Scotland.

Surrounded by a glorious mixture of farmland and peaceful green rolling landscapes, Muckrach Lodge Country House Hotel is a haven of peace and tranquillity in a wonderfully quiet corner of Cairngorm National Park in the Highlands of Scotland.
LOCATION

Muckrach Lodge is ideally placed for visiting malt whiskey distilleries, castles, Culloden, Loch Ness, the Cairngorms, shooting, and fishing, or simply relaxing and enjoying the fresh clean air of the Highlands of Scotland. One of the most impressively located hotels in the magnificent Strathspey and cairngorms region. It’s hard to imagine a more splendid setting for an elegant, very romantic country house hotel in Scotland that harks back to a time of extravagant luxury and exemplary refinement.
PROPERTY AMENITIES

* The heart of Muckrach Lodge is its kitchen. Lunches are mainly served in The Brasserie with a choice of fresh Grills, salads, vegetarian dishes and daily-changing imaginative specialities, available for lunch or in the evening.

Great place for a weekend
spent a weekend at the Muckrach Lodge Hotel in January 2005 with a group of friends. Our welcome was excellent, advice on what to do was great, the breakfasts were delicious - especially the porridge. The rooms were comfortable, the showers had plenty of hot water. The bar had a decent selection of whisky, and a roaring fire to sit in front of. But the best thing about the Muckrach was the evening meal which was absolutely superb. An Arbroath Smokie flan followed by the most wonderful beef was one evening's fare; and a sea bream starter with lamb to follow was the other evening. There were three different main course options each evening, plus steak and vegetarian available too.

surprised
My husband (to-be!) surprised me with a break at Muckrach. I had no idea where we were going and even when the plane took off for Inverness I still didn’t know!! Of course I was wondering what kind of hotel we were heading for and was so pleased when we arrived here. The owners are characters and obviously run their hotel with much pride. It has the kind of service etc. that you only find really in owner-run places. Food was simply delicious and we loved having truly local produce as there’s no point in coming all the way to Scotland to be served with something frozen in Birmingam. The room was comfy, warm and very clean, and the hotel had loads of information on what to see and do. The funicular railway was fun.Very Scottish place, not too big or too stuffy, and just what we wanted
